FAQ

The mission of our city’s New Year’s Eve Ball Drop is to give Fort Wayne an epic, fun and safe place to celebrate the end of the year and the beginning of the New Year with family, friends and loved ones. The mission is driven by a passion to encourage Fort Wayne residents to celebrate all that this great city has to offer.

The event is a true collaboration between several live programmers, broadcasting partners, and several local businesses / sponsors that have helped make this event FREE & Accessible but MOST importantly: SAFE.

The live programmers collaborating on the logistics of the event have many years experience and past events have included personnel on-site from local hospitals manning first aid and crowd control which includes ESG Security & Event Services, FWPD or the Sheriff Department (or of mix of personnel from these organizations). This event on December 31st will hold to those same standards and there will be a visible presence for both safety and first aid on-site. You will see a marked First Aid area/station and safety personnel clearly visible whether that be at entrance/exit areas or patrolling the around the entrance, exit.

Fort Wayne has four seasons and we embrace all of them. Our team has a well-defined safety and weather plan, and the event will proceed in accordance with this approved plan. In the event of hazardous weather or other unsafe conditions, security and public safety personnel will be on hand to communicate appropriate procedures for moving quickly and safely to sheltered areas. Our security plan has been developed in collaboration with private security and public safety officials, similar to other large-scale events hosted in Fort Wayne.

While the ‘awareness’ and/or ’cause’ component is baked into the even’ts mission to encourage Fort Wayne residents to celebrate all that this great city has to offer thanks to a donation from Steel Dynamics, Inc. (SDI) the organizers were able to donate $5,000 directly to the Mad Anthony Children’s Hope House which is caring place for families whose critically ill child is receiving medical care… for more information on their mission navigate to: http://www.childrenshopefw.org/

This is year one of the New Year’s Even Ball Drop. The live programmers that have come together to plan this even have experience curating events between 1,000 – 15,000 attendees. Many factors go into the turnout of a particular live event including weather conditions, ticket price and the type entertainment being provided. With this in mind, organizers wanted to make sure the event has FREE admission making for it extremely accessible for all interested in attending. Estimated attendance based on similar winter-based events: 5,000 – 10,000.

There will be a mixture of Top 40 hits, live jam band style music and various family friendly tunes throughout the night.
